Football Team Helps Make South Fayette Township Cleanup Event A Success!
Updated: 2009-06-12 11:26:17
The football team recently participated in a cleanup effort in South Fayette Township.
The following is from an email sent to the school:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Coach Rossi and the participating members of the football team for their efforts in making the 2009 South Fayette Township Cleanup Event such a success.
For your information, this is the second year in a row that Coach Rossi’s squad has worked on Route 50 in association with the Cleanup Event. As such, the team has completed the necessary requirements established by PennDOT to officially “adopt” Route 50. Accordingly, I promised Coach Rossi that I would contact PennDOT and finalize the obligatory paperwork for the team to be recognized with the appropriate “Adopt-a-Highway” Signs.
Please find attached a couple of pictures I took of the members of the football team that participated that particular Saturday. The group itself worked approximately four (4) hours and cleaned about seven (7) miles of Route 50, and used over 100 garbage bags! That is quite an achievement considering there were only 14 players who participated.
None-the-less I wanted to extend my thanks to you and your staff for the continual support you have given to me each of the past two (2) years for this event. Hopefully, next year more high school teams and/or groups will follow the lead established by the football program in making South Fayette one of the cleanest township’s in the state.
Thank you again,
J. David Gardner
